I suffer from cervicogenic headaches caused by protracted sitting during work. Alexander Technique has greatly assisted in increasing proprioception to improve posture and release pressure on the neck. The result has been not only a decrease in headaches and improved posture but a general lightness of movement that feels graceful and energizing.
Both treatment and lesson, the Alexander Technique has become an essential part of good self care and a great boon in overcoming severe and disabling headaches. Christel Herick is highly experienced and alert to nuanced changes in the body that need attention. She is also a delight to work with, a calm, attentive, gentle and skilled professional.

My piano teacher suggested I try Alexander Technique when I developed issues with one hand after surgery. There was an immediate improvement in the use of my hand after my first appointment with Christel. As I continue to learn and practice Alexander Technique, I have regained more mobility in my neck, shoulders and back. The benefits I have received have translated into richer sound when I play the piano. I would highly recommend Christel Herick to other musicians.

Christel Herick brings a great deal of integrity and intuitive skill into her practice… I have found that my posture has improved greatly and I notice a spring in my step when on my way to her office for a session. I recommend her to anyone who would like to change long-held patterns of movement. She has done wonders teaching my teens how to hold their rapidly growing bodies correctly. Christel is a leader in our area for Alexander Technique, and we are so fortunate to have her in Guelph.

“I find the Alexander Technique very helpful in my work. Things happen without you trying. They get you to be light and relaxed. You must get an Alexander teacher to show it to you.”
